Glenmorangie distillery was founded by William Matheson in 1843 in Scotland Highlands. Glenmorangie’s pure, smooth spirit is distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills, matured in the finest casks and perfected by The Men of Tain.
Glenmorangie’s American white oak casks are hand-picked from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. They then air season the oak for two years before lending them to bourbon producers like Jack Daniels for four years to use in their own maturation before taking back the now ex-bourbon barrels to be used to mature the Glenmorangie whisky. Glenmorangie’s water flows from the Tarlogie Springs in the hills above the distillery.
Glenmorangie Signet is a notable Highland single malt scotch whisky from the Glenmorangie brand and part of Glenmorangie’s Prestige Range. The signet itself originates from the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, an artifact that dates back to 800 AD, which shows Glenmorangie’s exceptional care towards the presentation of this whisky. This whisky is distilled twice and subsequently matured in bespoke American virgin oak casks and receives no chill-filtration.
Glenmorangie Signet was created with the marriage of whisky from two unique types of malted barley. A single estate Cadboll variety and malted chocolate barley, which is better known as the basis for craft beers. While it carries no-age-statement, there is said to be an element of some of the distillery's oldest and rarest stocks, ranging from 35 to 40 years old, in this Highland single malt. The reunited whisky is bottled at 46% ABV.
TO THE EYE
TO THE NOSE
Coffee, ginger and cinnamon melt into dark chocolate and tiramisu, with dark toffee, crystallized orange peel and rich fruit cake.
TO THE TONGUE
A velvet explosion of crackling spices swirls around bitter mocha and dark chocolate, toasted hazelnuts and mellow butterscotch.
TO THE END
Mocha and spice combine with cappuccino and amaretto, before a finale of chocolate-coated raisins and orange.
