Balblair 12 Years [1000ML]

Balblair Distillery is a Scotch whisky producer located in Edderton, Ross-shire, Scotland. The Distillery was founded by local man John Ross on the estate of Rosses of Balnagowan. John Ross ran a thriving business and in 1824, his first son Andrew joined the business. Thereafter, the sons and grandsons of John Ross operated the Balblair farm and distillery until 1894, when the tenancy was taken over by Alexander Cowan. Cowan was a wine merchant from Inverness and he transformed the Distillery further by building offices, a still house, mash house, kiln and barns.

In 1895, the Distillery was rebuild by designer Charles C Doig to be closer to the Edderton Railway Station. This was to take advantage of bringing coal for the stills and boiler as well as barley for the malting. However, to this day, Balblair Distillery continues to use the same original water source from Ault Dearg burn, ignoring the nearby burn from their new location. This is due to the quality of water from the original source. Balblair has one of the oldest archives in distilling, with the first ledger dating back to 25th January 1800. Written by John Ross himself, it reads “Sale to David Kirkcaldy at Ardmore, one gallon of whisky”

In 1996, Balblair was purchased by Inver House Distillers Ltd and in 2007 the distillery releases Vintage Whisky, with every bottling marked with the year in which the whisky was distilled. Most recently in 2019, Balblair Distillery also started releasing a core range of age statement whiskies, including but not limited to 12 years, 15 years and 17 years.

Balblair 12 Years is a Highland Scotch whisky that is matured in American oak ex-bourbon and double-fired American oak casks, which brings warmth and complexity. Balblair 12 Years is also Non-Chill Filtered and is all natural colours with no colouring added. Bottled at 46% ABV.
