Description
Singleton Glen Ord was founded in the year 1838, by Thomas Mackenzie in the Black Isle, a peninsula of rich, dark loam which is perfect for growing barley. Today, the Singleton Glen Ord distillery is the only remaining single malt Scotch whisky distillery left in the Black Isle.
Diageo was lacking behind rivals on their single malt range and in view of this, launched the Singleton single malt range in 2006, starting with Glen Ord, followed by Glendullan and Dufftown a year later. The brand’s success led to a major expansion at Glen Ord in 2014 that doubled production capacity. The three individual single malts were each given their own separate market initially. Glen Ord was for the Asia market, Glendullan for the US and Canada market and finally Dufftown for the European market. Today, all three brands are available globally.
Singleton Glen Ord 12 Years Sherry Cask is a Highland single malt scotch whisky that is matured in a combination of European oak Sherry casks and American oak Bourbon casks. After 12 years of maturation, the two casks are brought together and married by Malt Master, Maureen Robinson. Maureen wanted to enhance the signature rich fruity notes by maturing in Sherry casks. Bottled at the standard 40% ABV.
