Description
Launched in 1999, Hendrick’s Gin is a brand of gin produced by William Grant & Sons at the Girvan distillery in Ayrshire, south-west of Scotland. The person who created the recipe, Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, was a Yorkshire native who was hired by William Grant & Sons to work on new liquid development for some of their products.
William Grant & Sons is an independent, family-owned Scottish company that distils Scotch whisky and other categories of spirit such as Hendrick’s Gin. William Grant established this brand in 1887 and is still run by descendants of his family today. The current Chairman of the Company is Glenn Gordon who is a direct descendant of William Grant since 2012.
Hendrick’s Gin is masterfully crafted with 11 fine botanicals from the four corners of the world combined with the infusions of rose & cucumber imbue our spirit with its uniquely balanced flavour resulting in an unimpeachably smooth and distinct gin. The 11 fine botanicals are Angelica Root, Coriander Seeds, Orange Peel, Orris Root, Cubeb Berries, Yarrow, Caraway Seeds, Elderflower, Lemon Peel, Chamomile, and last but not least Juniper.
Hendrick’s Gin is also distilled using very 2 unique stills. This particular ensemble of stills is called Bennett, an antique copper pot dating back to the 1860s and the Carter-Head, hailing from 1948, of which only a few exist today. Hendrick’s Gin is suggested to be served with tonic water over ice garnished with cucumber instead of the traditional citrus. Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, suggests an alternative serving, with soda water and elderflower cordial. Bottled at the standard 40% ABV.
