Description

Talisker Distiller was founded by a pair of brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, in the year 1830. The distillery produces Island single malt Scotch whisky and is located in Carbost, Scotland on the Isle of Skye. The Talisker distillery mainly uses American oak casks to mature their whisky. Their water source comes from Cnoc nan Speireag, Hawk Hill, a spring directly above the distiller. The malted barley used in production comes from Muir of Ord. Talisker Storm was released in early 2013 as a no-age statement whisky, which was matured in specifically selected refill and toasted American oak casks. An intense and vibrant dram, the Storm offers up plenty of distillery character alongside some smokier depth and complexity.

Spicy, mellow smoke with honeyed sweet maltiness and hints of pepper on the nose. The first taste is rich & sweetly mellow followed by a spicy heat with elegant balance of sweet, smoke & salt, and a clean, warm finish. Bottled at 45.8% ABV.

TO THE EYES:

Golden yellow.

TO THE NOSE:

Aromas of brine and charcoal smoke hit the nose first; followed scents of oak along with baking spices, oranges, and raisins.

TO THE PALATE: 

The seasalt maritime and brine experience transforms into flavours of salted butter that coat the tongue. Sweet and juicy notes from fruits are present, coated in chilli heat and peat smoke.

TO THE END: 

Long finish with intense oak spice.
