Description

Talisker Distiller was founded by a pair of brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, in the year 1830. The distillery produces Island single malt Scotch whisky and is located in Carbost, Scotland on the Isle of Skye.

Talisker distillery mainly uses American oak casks to mature their whisky. Their water source comes from Cnoc nan Speireag, Hawk Hill, a spring directly above the distiller. The malted barley used in production comes from Muir of Ord. Talisker brand and distillery has been owned by Diageo since 1997.

Talisker 10 Years is an Island single malt Scotch whisky aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks and bottled at 45.8% ABV. Originally it was released as an 8 years old whisky, but Diageo increased the maturation to 10 years to include Talisker 10 Years in their Classic Malts series.

TO THE EYE

Bright Gold.

TO THE NOSE

Powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, sweet pears and apple peels.

TO THE PALATE

A bonfire of peat crackling with black pepper with a touch of brine and dry barley, balanced by fruity flavours of apples, pears, and dried grapes.

TO THE END

Long, warm, peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
