Bushmills Distillery is an alcohol producer that mainly produces Irish whisky in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland and is currently owned by Casa Cuervo. Casa Cuervo also owns the famous tequila brand Jose Cuervo. The Distillery was bought by Diageo in 2005 for a sum of £200 million and in 2014, Diageo traded the Bushmills Distilllery in exchange for a 50% shares in Don Julio brand of tequila.
Hugh Anderson is the founder and established the Bushmills Distillery Company in the year 1784. The year 1608 is printed on the label of the brand, referring to an earlier date when a royal license was granted to a local landowner to distill whisky in the area. Bushmills Distillery suffered many closures in its history and has been in continuous operation since it was rebuilt after a fire in 1885. The United States is one of Bushmills main export country and when the Prohibition Era hit in the 1920s, it brought US shipments to a halt. Bushmills Distillery continued to produce during the Prohibition Era and with the repeal of the
Pure and clean water is drawn from the nearby River Bush which flows overs beds of basalt rock. Bushmills Distillery only uses malted barley and is tripled distilled to create the iconic whisky. Bushmills Black Bush is an Irish whisky that is married with malt and a small-batch of sweet grain whisky and then matured in Ex-Sherry Oloroso and Bourbon casks. Bottled at the standard 40% ABV.
Sherry, baking spices, apple, a hint of grain, and notes of earthiness.
Flavours sherry, with hints of cinnamon, honey, some pears, nuttiness, and a bit of smoke and wood.
Medium finish with notes of grain and sherry flavours.
